Let me see a show of hands from everyone who is having to adjust to their spouses working from home and hanging out with them. All. Day. Long.
I first really enjoyed it, but I quickly realized that we were getting into each other’s spaces. Before, I was able to roam the living room and kitchen countertop as I saw fit, and now I have hunkered down in the guest bedroom to get some space. It seemed as though everytime Josh saw me, he had to bother me. I figured if I hid from him, I’d be outta sight, outta mind.
Not only are we adjusting to this new normal (because quite frankly, this may be the new normal), we have to learn to adjust to being around each other all the time. I’ve learned that we are on opposite schedules when it comes to working. I really like to take my time in the mornings to do things for myself before settling into a workflow. Josh will wake up, brew a pot of coffee, and get right to work.
Despite our differences, one of the biggest perks about Josh being home is that he is so motivating. He gets on a roll to knock out projects, and his work never stops. Myself, on the other hand, can sleep all day and can put things off until the last minute. I mean opposites attract, huh?
After a couple of weeks of being home, I asked what his favorite work from home gear was, and here are his absolute favorites with why he loves them [and a quick interpretation]
Leather Ugg Slipper
Ok I didn’t realize how much he loved these until he wouldn’t stop talking about them. He has a pair of these bad boys at his office, and now he has a pair for back in our home.
Why do you love them?
“If you’re man enough to wear them, they are everything you need in your life”
[he never answered the question, but I think he means he wears them all the time because they are so comfortable and is ok with the fact that they’re Uggs]
HP Desktop Monitor
I didn’t know he was going to come home with this. He uses this everyday.
Why do you love it?
“It’s so big, I don’t need to buy two of them.”
[what? I think he likes the size of the monitor.]
Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker
He uses this ALL OF THE TIME. I personally like Vietnamese coffee or Dalgona Coffee.
Why do you love it?
“After day 2 of using a French press, I went out and got a coffee maker. It’s easy to clean, easy to use, and easy to start.”
[I needed something that was efficient because your French press was taking way too long, Liyen]
Yeti Mug
We got a his and hers set for our wedding and it is probably one of the best things we own.
Why do you love it?
“My favortie thing is when I hold it in my hands, it reminds me of our wedding.”
[That’s actually what he said without any prompt from me]
